History of Barbie and Ken

The Barbie brand of dolls and toys is owned by the company Mattel. The first Barbie doll was created by Ruth Handler in 1959 and was named Barbie after the designer Ruth’s daughter whose name is Barbara. When the doll was first released, the doll’s eyes didn’t look straight to the front but had a side-eyed look.

This look was changed in the early 70s. Barbie is famous for her fashion outfits accessories. Her boyfriend Ken was introduced to the world as a doll in 1961 and was named after Ruth’s son, Ken.
